Pool Rules

The following are the Buckingham Recreational Association & State of Michigan Rules for Public Swimming Pools. Please review these rules with your family and any guests who will accompany you. They exist for the safety of all who use the pool.

  1. Swim at your own risk. Life guards are NOT on duty.
  2. Only residents whose dues are PAID IN FULL each year will be able to use the facilities.
  3. NO HANGING on swim ropes or floats.
  4. Please show identification (MI ID or High School ID) to Attendant and sign in each time you enter the pool enclosure.
  5. EVERYONE MUST SHOWER before entering the Pool.*
  6. Members using OIL, TANNING LOTIONS ETC, MUST SHOWER BEFORE RE-ENTERING THE POOL!!! These OILS or TANNING LOTIONS DAMAGE OUR SAND FILTRATION SYSTEM.
  7. WALK. (No running or rough play around the pool area.)*
  8. NO INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE will be tolerated. PLEASE be respectful to all.
  9. NO DIVING, RUNNING, JUMPING or SPINNING into the pool.*
  10. NO GUM or FOOD allowed in the pool area. Food is allowed outside of pool in picnic area or on grass only. Dispose of all trash in the designated receptacles.
  11. ABSOLUTELY NO DISPOSABLE DIAPERS . All children not toilet trained must wear a regulation swim diaper that fits snugly at the waist and legs. This swim attire must be provided by parent or guardian.
  12. NO BARETTES, HAIR PINS or JEWELRY may be worn into the pool. Pony tail elastics are acceptable.
  13. Parents, Guardian or Caregivers must accompany young children at all times in pool area.
    • Children coming alone MUST carry HIGH SCHOOL photo ID.
    • Young Children are not to be left unsupervised for any reason. It is strongly recommended that all children under the age of (6)six be accompanied by an adult while in the pool.
  14. Play articles NOT ALLOWED in pool area:
    15. Image
    • BALLS
    • frisbees
    • dolls with hair
    • scuba gear and inflatable toys (i.e. inner tubes and rafts)
  15. Play articles ALLOWED in pool area:
    • masks
    • goggles
    • noodles
    • water wings
    • Coast Guard approved Life Vests
  16. Only radios with headphones are permitted in pool area.
  17. Pool furniture is only to be used in pool area. All pool furniture is the property of Buckingham Recreational Association.
  18. GUEST POLICY(Members): All guests must be accompanied by a resident homeowner. There shall be no more than 6 guests allowed per household at any one time. The use of other Members to sign in guests over 6 IS NOT ALLOWED!
  19. GUEST POLICY(Koss Farms & Fieldstone Subdivisions): One Year Limited Membership for these (2) two subdivisions are for the use of the pool only. Koss Farms and Fieldstone Subdivisions are limited to 4 guests.
  20. NO SMOKING allowed inside pool enclosure.
  21. NO PETS are allowed on property for the health and safety of our patrons.*
  22. The Buckingham Recreational Association reserves the right to close the pool at any time due to inclement weather, biohazard or any other reason that poses a threat to any person using the pool area.

State of Michigan DEQ Public Act and Rules Governing Public Swimming Pools

  1. Showers MUST be taken before entering the pool area (Sec. 325.2192)
  2. No glass containers or alcoholic beverages (Sec. 325.2192)
  3. BAND-AIDS must be removed before entering pool area. A swimming pool owner (the Association Board of Directors) shall ensure that a person who has any of the following medical conditions is excluded from a swimming pool, except that the person may be granted use of a swimming pool upon a written determination by the Health department, a personal physician, or a local health officer that the condition will not affect the health of other persons using the pool:
    • an infectious or communicable disease
    • a possibly infectious condition, such as a cold, skin eruption or open blister. (Sec. 325.2192)
  4. Proper swim attire is required; NO CUTOFFS or SHORTS allowed. (Sec. 325.2192)
  5. NO spitting or otherwise polluting swimming pool or related facilities. (Sec. 325.2192)
  6. Running or Boisterous or Rough Play is not permitted. (Sec. 325.2192)
  7. Diving is NOT Permitted from the edge of a pool at any location where the water depth is less that 5 feet. (Sec. 325.2192)
  8. NO PETS, except to trained guide-dogs assisting an impaired individual. No guide-dogs in the pool. (Sec. 325.2191)
  9. The gate to the pool area must be kept closed at all times. (Sec. 325.2191a)
  10. Coast Guard approved life jackets may only be worn by individuals who has in his or her possession a statement signed by a licensed physician stating that the individual has a physical disability or condition that necessitates the use of a life jacket. (Sec. 333.12531a)


The Buckingham Recreational Association has the authority to enforce any written or unwritten rule that will ensure the safety or enjoyment of our patrons.

ANY PATRON NOT COOPERATING AND/OR NOT OBSERVING ALL RULES WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE FACILITY.

THE BOARD RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THESE RULES AT ANYTIME.
